Big Match Hole-in-one

My partner (an 8 handicap) and I (a 10 handicap) were playing a second round match in the Partners Champions at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, PA on June 7, 2018. Our opponents were a past Club and Medal Play Champion (a 2 handicap), and his partner, a young, long hitting young man with an 11 handicap - we had beaten this team last year in a quarterfinal match and I am sure they were looking to revenge their loss. On the 13th hole, a par 3 on our Blue nine with the pin sitting 170 yards from the tee, we were plus 1, having clawed our way back from a 6 point deficit after the first 3 holes. I hit a ProV1-x red number three marked with a green shamrock (my mark of choice!) using a 5 iron. The golf ball glanced off a tree that guards the green short and right. The ball ricocheted off some branches on to the green and finally rolled into the hole! We won 2 points on the hole on the way to winning the match - a really fun day!! I continued to play with the ball until we won our match on the 17th hole. My partner and I decided to play the last hole, a par 4 over Chartiers Creek. Before I teed off my partner reminded me to take the hole-in-on ball out of play, and I was thankful that he reminded me even though we finished the round without incident!
