In my husband's words! So, I ask my wife if she would like to play Cheyenne Shadows golf course today. We can play the twilight so she and our daughter can play a big golf course for the first time. Keep in mind, she has just started playing this game. She took about a month worth of lessons, then has played a par three course about 5 times. She says sure, so we head to Carson. We play the first four holes, with myself playing from the white tees, and our daughter and Amanda playing from the family tees. The first 4 holes are played like that. Having fun, trying to keep my patience with my game, while trying to help the two of them at their beginning level. When we hit the 5th hole, if anybody knows Carson, it's an elevated par 3. I believe it's the signature hole for the course. It's awesome, we are 187 yards out from the white tees, but the hole is quite majestic. So I hit my shot, took a 9 iron Pin high but just to the left of the green. So, Amanda asks me if she can hit from up top where I hit from. I'm like, sure, thinking, she might get her ball on the green, but it would take a great shot, and she's just a beginner, so yeah, go ahead. She grabs a three wood, tees it up kind of high. I tell her, in all of my wisdom and knowledge, you may want to tee that down a bit. Don't want to sweep under it, then it goes sky high, and has no chance. So, she tees it down a bit and sets up. She is a beginner, so keep in mind, I watch her go through her check list, on every shot! Knees in, long swing, good contact, and your practice swing better sweep the ground. She does two practice swings, then sets up, and lets it rip. The flight of the ball, is kind of like a line drive hit in baseball. She hits it to the front right part of the green, I'm excited for her now. She did what I didn't think she could do, and that was hit the green. But check this out, the ball starts tracking towards the hole, I'm like, no way, it rolls and rolls, all the way to the hole, then I lose it. Lost track of where it went. I figure, it's 187 out, and my eyes are now 47 years old. So we can check for it behind the green in the rough. We drove down, and look, can't find it anywhere, so, what does the wise one do?? He checks the cup, and damn if her ball wasn't at the bottom of the cup??? I tell her, she does this weird chicken dance sort of thing. I kiss her, give her a hug, and say wow. I can't tell you the pride I have for this woman, but Amanda Starke just hit a hole in one. All I can do is say wow!!!
