Bad Day for Golf Turned Great
By MSchmid On 27 June 2016
I was golfing with a friend on a Saturday May 14th on what I would say was not a very nice day. It was cold, windy and overcast. We were only one of a few groups on the course that day but we couldn't reschedule and we both wanted to get out for our first time this year so we went. Overall it was not a very good day for either of us as it was our first time golfing for the year and the wind was not helping matters much. On the second to last hole, I hit my tee shot and it was straight on line. I figured that this was by far my best shot of the day and thought that maybe I would be able to put in for a birdie so I turned and started walking back to our cart. As we got closer, I didn't see my ball so I said something and my friend said that it must have rolled off the back of the green. I was thinking that there was no way that the ball rolled that far as the pin was closer to the front but I could see everywhere except for the back so I figured he must have been right. Anyways as we walked up towards the green, I still didn't see it and that's when it hit me that it might have gone in. I turned to my friend before I got anywhere close to the hole and put my hands up and started smiling. He said "No way!" and came over. We both approached the cup together and sure enough there it was, my Titleist Velocity ball in the bottom of the cup. Now I would like to say it was all skill but I am far from being a good golfer but all the same, I got my first hole-in-one!! The sad thing is that I know the Velocity ball is meant for distance but for some reason I have better control over this ball than any other one that I have tried and so I stick with it. It is actually kind of funny but since I am not that good of a golfer I lose my fare share of balls in the weeds and water but I also find a lot of balls while looking for mine. I normally keep them if they are reasonable thinking that I will use them on those holes that I am pretty sure that I might lose a ball but I never do. I still use my good balls and now I have a collection of other balls but will still go out and by another box of Velocity balls every time I am running low instead of using my found balls. Thanks for the memory Titleist!!
