My first thought of one day making a hole in one came right after my first eagle. I was 13 at the time playing a short par 4. Explaining the merit of my hole-out for eagle, (my family did not know what par, birdie, eagle etc. meant) I told them that it was 2 under par on a par 4 was like a hole in one on a par three...they understood then. Up until that time I had never considered getting an Ace. From then on in my gut...my minds eye...I always "knew I would one day". Well I continued to play sporadically over the next 38 years...never getting that elusive ONE. On June 2nd 2016...having read an article on hole in one's the month before...the feeling grew that mine was coming. Playing the 16th at a nice State Park course nearby...I took dead aim picking out a blade of grass two foot in front of my ball...hit a 7 iron into incoming wind on an elevated tee playing around 150 yards....ball was hit high and straight...never left the flag...seemed to stall...then drop straight down...then I heard sound of my ProV1 hitting the stick...told my daughter (sitting in the cart) that her daddy might have gotten his first Ace...we headed down to the green...was late in the day...didn't know for sure if the ball had gone in or just bounced off the stick....my 10 year old beat me to the hole...after we didn't see a ball on or near the green....sure enough I had holed out on the fly....WOW! Looked for a ball mark in front of the hole to see if it had bounced in....nope...on the fly! Dated my ProV and took it out of play...that one goes with other eagles and special scoring....after all these years...my dream realized....thanks for reading my story...hope your Ace was as special to you as mine was to me.
