A Family Affair!

With my brother battling prostate cancer the last couple years, and knowing he got on the Golf Channel Amtour, Detroit Tour, I decided to do so as well, hoping we would get some opportunities to play golf together. My 74 year old father, ever the competitor, got on the Detroit Tour as well. This past weekend I traveled from my hometown of Green Bay over to Gaylord, MI for Detroit's Tour Championship, which my dad and my brother also played in. It was a 2-day event. So on hole #5 the beverage cart girl drove up and I ordered a Coke. On that bottle had the name "Tiffany". I told her, "Oh cool that's my sisters name, and with me playing this tournament with my dad and brother....maybe this will be good luck." It was only 1 hole later, a steep downhill par 3 of 154 yards, a normal 8-iron from that distance turned to a 9-iron due to the elevation drop. I hit it sweet, and it took one bounce right into the cup. Not a lot of yelling because we weren't sure what just happened, and we were using our range finders to make sure the ball wasn't hiding behind the stick. It was in the hole!!! Oh man, what a thrill. My hands were shaking the next several holes, and only being 1-over going into hole #9 I pulled a quad 9 on a par five due to my excitement. I was given a great gift by Frank Sciberras, which was a ceramic whisky flask from the 1970 Bing Crosby Pro Am....a true antique and keepsake. Of course it was even more special to get a hug from my dad and bro who were happy for me. I started playing ProV1x balls this year and I absolutely love them. I'm getting great distance with them and I'm backing up the ball on the greens like a pro. I'm never changing balls again!! Thank you Titleist for being part of a very special day in my life. At the age of 49, to finally get my first hole-in-one, is a dream come true!!
