After 52 years of golfing, with handicap ranging from 10 - 18 and several close encounters (Including a few holed out irons from the fairway), I finally succeeded in making my first hole-in-one. On the 16th hole, with 3 carry-over greenies at stake, I hit a shot right at the pin that appeared to land on the green and then disappeared. My partner assured me that the ball took a bounce up the flagstick and dropped into the hole. Since the pin was on the back of the green, when the ball disappeared, I thought it had bounced over the green but my partner assured me it went in the hole. I didn't fully believe him until I walked to the hole, saw the ball mark about 6 inches behind the hole and then saw my ball in the hole.
