I 've been playing golf for 37 years and have never had a hole in one. My 18 year old son Jeff recently started to play after starting a job as a bag boy at a local club in CT. He really just started playing this year so I got him his own set of clubs. On July 4th, late in the afternoon, he went to my club(Wethersfield CC) with his friend Alex to play 18 holes. I was at a picnic with my golfing buddies when Jeff called my cell. He said he had some news. I asked, are you OK? Did you damage the golf cart? He then told me he got a hole in one on the 17 hole. Needless to say I was very excited for him and I don't think he really can appreciate the odds of that happening. The buddies I was at a picnic with total over 120 years of playing golf and none of us have gotten a HOLE IN ONE. BTW The 17th at WCC was playing 172 yards into a breeze slightly over water. He hit a 6 iron. Congrats Jeff!
