Last week I attended the HSBC Golf Association golf week (attending as an HSBC pensioner), this year’s was the 96th annual golf week the hosts this year were Royal Porthcawl GC and Pyle & Kenfig GC. On Monday 11th May on the first day which was at Pyle & Kenfig GC of a 2 day stableford competition played on the two courses, I stood on the 15th tee playing off the yellow tee 184 yards. It was extremely windy and I used my driver. I hit a good shot and my playing partners thought that it was going to be close but we could not see the hole, it was only when we got to the green that my playing partner confirmed that my ball was in the hole. It was my first hole in one. At the Annual Gala dinner and Prize Giving last Friday I was presented with a Pyle & Kenfig GC club tie by their general manager. Earlier this month I ended my year of Captaincy at Grim’s *** so it’s been a very memorable month. www.titleist.com/.../ukhrrtgg753itz4wp0pv www.titleist.com/.../yuk7dsfrmphwiqipsomn www.titleist.com/.../tjlun3qehfd8xcofdiuf www.titleist.com/.../zsiqpr3n1dgv1kwekei0

Forum Post: GTS Driver

I’m from the south central part of Virginia. Located between Danville and Lynchburg. I was hoping someone in the group may have been fit in this area. I’m willing to drive as much as 2hrs to make sure I get the proper fitting. Not one who gives me 30 mins of their time and sticks me in a stock head and shaft without trying other options and adjusting weights to optimize the driver and ball flight. The club (Silloth on Solway), were searching for a mixed couple to play in the Little English competition on Saturday 16th. of May 2026 so Charles and I volunteered only the day before. On the 9th. hole (110yds.) I scored. The pin was tucked beyond 2 bunkers and a mound, so nobody saw the ball drop in. What laughs we all had after looking for the ball. After my first one I would never have thought I would have another. The second one came on May 15, 2026. Par 3, 129 yard, Hole #10 at Monarch Bay GC, San Leandro CA. I am using a very old, but new, Pro V1 - 392. I hit my PW solid and it flies directly at the flag. It lands about 12 feet in front of the flag, bounces and then it rolls straight into the cup. HIO number 2 of my life, in the books. I am still in shock and disbelief. It is amazing what can come out of the golf bags to help celebrate such an occasion. My partners even had shot glasses tucked away. I hit a driver off the tee using my Honma TW757D (Vizard 60X shaft) and a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. I saw the ball land near the front of the green, but when we arrived at the green, I could not find it and assumed it was lost. One of my playing partners then checked the hole and discovered the ball in the hole cup. At that moment, I realized I had made a hole-in-one on a par 4 (albatross). I was extremely surprised, happy, and excited. www.titleist.com/.../w4p8gjrttsgpoxkk8jrq www.titleist.com/.../uffsuh2fjspgjxxzmo0n

Forum Post: RE: Practice vs Playing

I play full rounds more often than I practice but find the most benefit when practicing chipping and alignment. Chipping is so important for shooting lower scores and something that requires practice. Alignment is the other piece that you need to have a feel for and has a direct impact on the course. Ball striking and shot creative is automatically worked on while playing so I don’t focus as much time on the range as the chipping green. Before every round I hit a small bucket of balls to get loose (most balls used on my wedges), roll putts, and hit some chips.

Forum Post: Thinned shot roles into the hole

First ace ever at a par 3 154 yard hole in Southern CA while playing with the boys!
