Round of my golfing career

This year had a slow start, my trusty T100S were balky, and I was doubting my abilities and in the back of my mind considering a fitting. After the last 2 days, they will be staying put in the bag. After several sessions in the range, I realized they were waiting for the golfer who bought the sticks to show up. Yesterday in our men's league kickoff scramble, I won 2 closest to the pin par 3s, 8i and 6i, with a combined distance of 6 ft. Today I happily posted my career low round of an even par 71. It only took 56 years of playing this great sport, but persistence is an inherited trait from my dear departed father. In the words of the late great Jimmy V., "Don't give up. Don't ever give up.

Whether it's TV coverage, social media, a tip from your local PGA pro, or something you overheard at the shop, what have you heard that has you fired up to try a GTS driver?

For me, it started with a text exchange shared during our Monday team catch-up meeting: a message from a prominent non-contracted Tour player to one of our Tour fitters. I won't share the exact words, but it's not every day a Tour player texts a club fitter like a kid on Christmas.

The other notable one for me was a common trend observed in early fittings. Tour players were registering faster swing speeds with GTS. We typically focus on ball speed gains for driver performance, but our Tour reps kept noticing something different than past launches: players were swinging harder. More stability. More confidence. More freedom to go after it.

And as an employee who has been fortunate to play a GTS3 in my last few rounds, I completely get it. For you that know me, I am not the most accurate driver of the golf ball. My first three drives with GTS3 found the fairway. Tension on the tee faded. The swing freed up. I've been letting it fly with GTS and gettings "oooohs" and "aaaahhhs" I haven't heard in years. I am in love.

So tell us—what have you seen or heard about New Titleist GTS driver that has you excited to try it?

I like my driver that i have now, the TS3, but would like to get a little more distance. Also, when i played Desert golf, i felt that target golf worked better for me hitting fairways, but now I’m away from there, so that would be a tremendous benefit to my game.

You don’t really look like a Titleist guy

Not gonna lie—I didn’t even know how to take that.

What does a “Titleist guy” even look like?

I’ve always gravitated toward Titleist because of the performance, the consistency, and honestly just how clean everything looks in the bag. From the irons to the wedges to the ball—it just works for me. No gimmicks, just solid gear that lets you focus on your game.

I’m not a scratch golfer. I don’t play 5 times a week. I’m just a guy who loves the game, works hard, and enjoys getting out when I can. And when I do, I want equipment I can trust.

If anything, I thought that’s exactly what being a “Titleist guy” was about.

Curious if anyone else has ever been told something like this—or what you think it even means.

That's annoying. Should've asked him what he meant by that.

I got some hand me down Titleist drivers and some vokeys when i first started playing and my cousin in law looked at me weird and said "Isnt Titleist for people who are good at golf?"

Never played with him again.

Good that Titleist has a reputation for making elite products i guess?

I primarily use the Arccos' strokes gained data comparisons. I use the information to gain more focus on my practice sessions at the range. I don't have much time to practice on the range, so I need to use my time as efficiently as possible, and I find the Arccos data helps with that.

Completely agree...find what works for you and stick with it.

I was in the same boat...used Arccos for years and then I left and used different platforms (ShotScope, Golf Pad, etc...). When Titleist collaborated with Arccos, I gave it a try. From my experience, using the Air and the Smart Laser Rangefinder was a gamechanger. I use it without the sensors and it's very accurate. I always preferred the UI of Arccos compared to the other ones I used but the sensors were the biggest issue for me.

I was fitted February 4th 2026 by Tyler Ver Meer at Westlake CC. Best fitting I have ever had. I'm 89 and with a slow swing speed. Tyler recommended T-250* launch spec, light with MMT AMC Red 55, R3 shafts. They are wonderful irons. Took 90 days to get them. I guess because of the special light head. Looking forward to better dispersion numbers.

If people find it helpful, I am happy for them. Me, I tried it a couple years ago, and got really frustrated. I track my shots on my Garmin S70. For me, I found it distracting. Maybe I was doing it wrong? I gave away my sensors and cancelled my subscription. I am an avid golfer, and play every day. I track everything and thought this would be a great addition. Hopefully for others it is exactly what they are looking for.

Am a rather "keeping it in the fairway driver of the ball" golfer with my GT setup. If I can maintain that. Maybe a little more speed with a different shaft and a few yards would be nice. Like Dale, the age factor, plus a couple of medical issues have limited those long drives. More about shot management. Will see what my fitter recommends. He has the final say. I just provide the golf credit card.

Well it only took me 981 days to get back out on the course, but i did and it felt so good. I played Ravisloe Country Club just outside of Chicago. It’s a Donald Ross design that was originally private, but became public a few years back. It was in great shape despite all the rain that had fallen the past week or so. Surprisingly i wasn't too nervous once i got on that first tee box. Sliced it but didn’t ground it so i was happy. The driving range was closed so didn’t even get to warm up. I went out as a single and thought i had a good gap between golfers behind me, but sure enough another single played and i let him thru cause i didn’t want to feel pressured to play fast. It’s amazing how much golf can help your mental health even after you get frustrated hitting a bad shot, lol. Sometimes I get into addictions that I think I’m happy but really I’m not. and took me away from golf but I’m ready to get back out there again cause i missed It so much. Now i have to get up to date on the new clubs here and see when i can do a fitting again.

I know how you feel, I took time off to play ice hockey and stepping back onto the tee and smashing the first drive down the middle made me realise I was silly to think I needed to take time off. Glad you are back out, had a great season

Great reviews of the arccos system I’ve seen. Never went into buying it myself as I have a gps garmin watch which tracks my shots but won’t be as accurate as arccos from what I’ve read. Anyone used it and really found it helpful to get better scores and how?

3 Clubs for a Round – How Would You Play It?

I was thinking recently about a 3-club tournament I played a few years back. The course was on the shorter side, roughly 5,800 yards. I decided to go with a 3-wood, 8-iron, and 54-degree wedge. I ended up using the 3-wood as a putter from longer distances and the 54-degree wedge as a putter from shorter distances.

Everyone in the event seemed to have a different strategy, which was part of the fun and really shows how much it comes down to what works for your game.

It got me curious. If you had to play 18 holes with just 3 clubs, which ones would you choose? Or if you’ve played in a similar event, what clubs did you decide to go with?

Yes the title is correct, If you are getting up in age 60+ get your PSA levels checked. I did and am glad I did. Mine was high and yes it's cancer . Lucky it was caught early and I should be good to go in a couple months. No restrictions so I will be on the course through it all. A PET scan showed it was contained to the Prostate , a big relief on that. Not looking for anything from anybody just a heads up to all "seasoned duffers". Have fun and hit um straight.
