What's your spin rate like on the JPX clubs?

I'm playing the T-150's now and they definately spin more than my previous clubs

Shafts do play a part in that, so a fitting will give you the hard data to make an informed decision

For reference my spin rates were the following with a 7 iron- 85 mph swing speed

Titleist AP2's True Temper S-300 shafts (130 grams) - 4800 rpm

Titleist T-150's Project X LZ 5.5 shafts (115 grams) - 6500 rpm

The T-150's had great stopping power on the greens compared to my last clubs

Agree with what everyone has said - the getting fitted part is so important and here is why...not only to see if you'll benefit from a combo set, and to see your numbers, shaft influence etc., but for me at my iron fitting, I found that the T150 top line was bigger than what I am used to in my current T100S. Its such a personal choice, and having confidence in what you are looking down at prior to a shot (as well as knowing that your numbers are YOUR numbers) can make or break your round! I am like Peter. I also am an 11 HCP but not because of my iron play. My up and down game and putting are terrible. I was just fit into the T150 and love everything about them. I went into the fitting looking at the T200 and once I hit them (or attempted to) I thought they were the worst club made. The T150 on the other hand were like they were made just for me. I would try and find a demo day somewhere to try the different models out or just schedule a fitting somewhere.

Get fitted…handicap isn’t a good indicator…I’m a 10 HCP, but my putting is in the 30 handicap category…my iron play is around a 2 handicap….So, I play T150s and absolutely love them…I tried going to the T200s to maybe get more distance and forgiveness and couldn’t hit them for the life of me…I tried the 2021 version as well as the 2023 version…I cannot play either…everyone is different. Give me a club with a bigger head and somehow my head thinks, “You paid for all that club face, you need to use it all!” LOL…

definitely go get fitted, you may benefit from a combo set... that being said, I went combo and I'm switching to full t150, I just don't love the feel as much on the t200, they are much improved, but the t150 is my favorite iron i've ever hit.

A natural indeed. You are the perfect candidate for a fitting. There's a lot to learn and gain from a fitting session. This is a no-brainer, you'll love it.

Going from JPX Hot Metals to the T150 is a big change. Going from a game improvement iron to basically a players iron. You should definitely hit some first, but if you are a good ball striker, you may be able to make a smooth transition.

I went from cally Razr X irons (game improvement) to JPX 900 Tours, and was able to strike the ball well.

Like others have said, getting fit is the best option.

I, like you, believe in opting for a set that you can grow into - discuss with your fitter that you prefer a head with more feel (so you know when you mishit, flush it, etc).

Your fitter will ask your preferences - do you want more feel as opposed to distance? Then he may put you in T150s as opposed to say the T350s where you get more forgiveness/speed at the cost of feel.

If you have gotten to an 11 in 1.5 years, practice 2-3 times per week, and only play 2 times per month, I would say you are a natural!!

The T150s are awesome as are all Titleist clubs. But as 99% of Team Titleist will tell you, a proper fitting will let you know if Titleist clubs will fit you better than your current sticks.

This year’s fitting model blurs the line in the T series irons. No one player is just like the rest. So the fitters don’t see the heads specifically as for a certain player. Certainly someone like myself (73) can’t generate enough speed to optimize a T100. The focus is the 3 D’s. Which for me translates to launch, height, ball speed, and the descent angle.

So the selection is not focused on playing a head based on improving your game, as of old, but optimizing your club to your swing (sweeper, steep, etc) and speed as it translates to ball speed. Almost everyone will find an iron that doesn’t get the preferred 5mph increase in ball speed, loses some height, and a more variable rollout due to a descent angle being too shallow. Hence the recommended next step is to find another head, hybrid, driving iron, or fairway wood to keep the 5mph gap from the last iron.

So, maybe the fitter will find the T150 to be ideal. Improving ball striking is only one variable. If you improve contact on the face center but with the same club head speed, the current recommendation will work bettered than moving up an iron model if you lose sight of the 3 D’s along the way.
