Jennifer Kupcho Takes the Final Leap Into Poppie's Pond

LPGA | Chevron Championship

Playing a Pro V1 golf ball, Jennifer Kupcho etched her name into the history books Sunday at the Mission Hills’ Dinah Shore Tournament Course, claiming her first LPGA victory and major championship.

  • Kupcho, who three years ago this week won the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur, took the final champion’s leap into Poppie’s Pond, as the event will move to Houston and a different spot on the calendar next season.
  • Kupcho, 24, played the four rounds in 14 under, highlighted by an 8-under 64 on Saturday that gave her a six-shot lead heading into Sunday’s finale.
  • She finished with a two-shot victory, holding off a late Sunday charge from Titleist Brand Ambassador Jessica Korda, who closed in 69.
  • Titleist golf ball players have now win six of the first seven events to start the LPGA season.

KUPCHO ON HER PRO V1

  • “Pro V1 is just the ball I’ve always played. The ball flight is so consistent, I love how it flies off the tee, and around the greens I’m able to really control my spin and hit the shots I need to.”

HOW KUPCHO MARKS HER PRO V1

  • “I mark my Pro V1 with a pink line (over the sidestamp) and three pink dots (above the Titleist script, to the right of the last “t”). The line is to help me with alignment when I’m on the putting green. The dots – I used to mark it with one dot when I was in college, but all my teammates did the same. So now I just put three.”

AMATEUR | Augusta National Women’s Amateur

The winner of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur played a Pro V1x golf ball and full bag of Titleist equipment – including a TSi2 driver and fairways, 620 MB irons, Vokey Design wedges and Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter – becoming the youngest champion in the event's history at 16 years old.

  • The ANWA champ, who started Saturday’s final round at Augusta National two strokes off the lead, played Amen Corner in 2 under, with birdies at the par-3 12th and the par-5 13th, on her way to a 3-under 69 and one-shot victory.
  • The Spring Valley, Calif.-native was the only player who finished the 54-hole event in red numbers, at 1 under (215).
  • She had never stepped foot on AGNC until her Friday practice round.
