EXCELLENCE TO THE FINISH.
Charley Hoffman fires a final round 62 to capture the Deutsche Bank Championship.
In golf, when the chips are down, having trust in your equipment can make all the difference. Equipment that performs consistently can sustain a golfer’s confidence, and squeeze the most out of a round when a golfer doesn’t have his or her “A” game. It’s perhaps just as important, however, to have golf clubs and a golf ball you can count on when you’re firing on all cylinders and a career best is within reach. On Labor Day, Titleist Brand Ambassador Charley Hoffman found himself in the zone and trusted the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball and a host of Titleist clubs to craft a signature performance that will go down in PGA TOUR history. Hoffman fired an 11-birdie, 9-under-par 62 in the final round to capture the Deutsche Bank Championship by five strokes.
On the Champions Tour, Ted Schulz relied on the Pro V1x golf ball to win the Home Care & Hospice First Tee Open. Schulz, in the field on conditional status, made the most of the opportunity, winning his first Champions Tour title and claiming his first professional win since 1991. The wins by Hoffman and Schulz advance Titleist's 2010 worldwide win count to 95, nearly five times the nearest competitor with 20.

PGA TOUR: In winning the Deutsche Bank Championship, Charley Hoffman shot four rounds in the 60s (64-67-69-62) and tied the tournament record of 22-under 262 at TPC Boston. It’s the second TOUR title for Hoffman, whose first win came at the 2007 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. The victory vaults him from No. 59 to No. 2 in the FedExCup standings heading into the third leg of the PGA TOUR playoffs at the BMW Championship in Chicago.
What’s in Charley Hoffman’s Bag?: Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, new 910 D3 (9.5°) prototype driver, MB irons (3-9), Vokey Design wedges (48°, 56°, 60°) Scotty Cameron Red X putter.
Three players finished tied for second, five shots off Hoffman's pace, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Geoff Ogilvy (Pro V1, new 910 D3 prototype driver, new 910 F prototype fairway metal, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron 303 SSS putter) and Luke Donald (Pro V1x). Ogilvy, who played alongside Hoffman on Monday, closed with a 5-under 66 and his runner-up finish moved him from No. 52 to No. 9 in the standings, assuring him a spot in THE TOUR Championship.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott (Pro V1, new 910 D3 prototype driver, new 910 F prototype fairway metal, 909 H hybrid, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport putter) posted four rounds in the 60s en route to a 16-under 268 total, good for a share of fifth place with three players, including Tom Gillis (Pro V1), who earned his 2010 PGA TOUR card after a successful 2009 campaign on the Nationwide Tour. Gillis entered the Deutsche Bank at No. 92 in the FedExCup standings, but his 65-65 weekend moves him to No. 48. Adam Scott enters next week's BMW Championship at No. 15.
Pro V1 loyalist John Senden finished in eighth, followed by Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker (Pro V1, 909 D3 driver, 906 F2 fairway metal, 909 H hybrid, CB irons, Vokey Design wedges), who eagled the 18th to finish at 13-under 271. Titleist Brand Ambassador D.J. Trahan (Pro V1x, 909 D3 driver, 909 F2 fairway metal and new 910 F prototype fairway metal, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Del Mar putter) finished in 10th, another shot back. Stricker will hold the No. 3 spot in the FedExCup standing as the Playoffs head to Chicago. Trahan and Senden will enter the week at No. 36 and No. 38, respectively.
#1 BALL, HYBRID, IRON, WEDGE and PUTTER: According to the Darrell Survey, Titleist was the overwhelming GOLF BALL of choice at The Deutsche Bank Championship with 64 players, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 9. Titleist was also first in HYBRIDS with 25, including 7 New 910 prototype hybrids, IRON SETS with 30; SAND, LOB and APPROACH WEDGES with 84; and PUTTERS with 37.
Charley Hoffman's victory with Titleist's new 910 D3 prototype driver was the second win for the 910 prototype driver following Titleist Brand Ambassador Ross Fisher's victory last month on the European Tour, at the 3 Irish Open. In fact, counting Hoffman, four players that finished among the top 5 and ties at the Deutsche Bank Championship relied on the Titleist 910 prototype driver, including Titleist Brand Ambassadors Geoff Ogilvy (T-2) and Adam Scott (T-5).
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Ted Schulz (Pro V1x) holed a 12-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole at Pebble Beach en route to a 2-under 70 on Sunday that sealed a one-stroke victory over Titleist Brand Ambassador Tom Pernice Jr. The 50-year-old Schulz finished at 14-under 202. Runner-up Pernice (Pro V1x, new 910 D3 prototype driver, 909 H hybrids, AP2 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Kombi putter) shot 5-under 67 to finish one stroke ahead of Tom Kite (Pro V1) and Mark Calcavecchia (Pro V1x), who each shot 3-under 69 to finish tied for third at 12-under 204.
Schulz, who left the PGA TOUR in 2000, is the current director of golf at the University of Louisville. It was his first victory since the 1991 Nissan Open. Schulz also won the 1989 Southern Open on the PGA TOUR.

Sisk, the 54-hole leader, shot a 1-under 71 at Southpointe Golf Club to finish at 12-under 272, one shot from forcing a playoff. His runner-up showing is his best finish of the season. Local favorite Steve Wheatcroft (Pro V1x) also shot 1-under 71 to finish at 10-under 274, tied for third.
With the performance, Sisk moves from No. 87 to No. 37 on the Nationwide Tour Money List with eight events remaining on the 2010 schedule. The 25 leading money winners at the end of the season will earn their PGA TOUR cards for 2011.
