Rory McIlroy In a brilliant display of talent and confidence in himself and his equipment, Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy trusted the Pro V1x golf ball and a complete bag of Titleist clubs to win the Quail Hollow Championship for his first career PGA Tour victory.  Just days shy of his 21st birthday, McIlroy went 5-under over the final five holes to close with a course record 10-under 62, topping the nearest competitor and Masters champion by four shots.  He capped the magical round by converting a 40-foot putt on the final hole to finish at 15-under 273.  McIlroy turns 21 on May 4.  This marks the second consecutive week a Titleist Brand Ambassador has joined the winner’s circle on the PGA Tour.  Last week, Jason Bohn, who was also celebrating a birthday, went wire-to-wire to win the Zurich Classic.  He also trusted the Pro V1x golf ball and 14 Titleist golf clubs for his success. McIlroy becomes the first player since 2006 to make the cut on the number and win a PGA Tour event.  McIlroy was two over the cut line on Friday with three holes to play until making an eagle on his 16th hole.  His 10-under par 62 final round performance is the lowest final round for a winner on Tour this year, a mark previously set by fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Bill Haas, who shot a final round 64 en route to his victory at the Bob Hope Classic.

David Eger

CHAMPIONS TOUR:  Just like Rory McIlroy on the PGA Tour, David Eger relied on the Pro V1 golf ball and 14 Titleist clubs to capture the inaugural Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.  Eger shot a final round 3-under 69 in rainy, windy conditions to win his first Champions Tour event since 2005.  Eger, who finished at 11-under, held on for a one-shot victory over Tommy Armour III (Pro V1x, New MB irons, Scotty Cameron putter).  Armour, who won twice on the PGA TOUR in 1990 and 2003, was seeking his first Champions Tour triumph.

A number of players appeared bothered by intermittent rain and wind gusts reaching 30 miles per hour, but Eger's final-round 69 made him the only player to shoot below 70 in all three rounds and become the sixth different winner on the tour in eight events this year.

Martin Piller

NATIONWIDE:  Texan Martin Piller (Pro V1x) won a final round duel with fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Daniel Summerhays (Pro V1x) to capture the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA for his first career Nationwide Tour title.  The 24-year old Piller posted an even-par 71 and finished at 12-under 272, one better than playing partner Summerhays, with whom he was tied for the lead until the final hole. 

#1 BALL, IRON, WEDGE and PUTTER: Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice with 93 players, more than three times the nearest competitor with 24.  Titleist was also first in iron sets with 38; sand, lob and approach wedges with 114; and putters with 62.  Titleist was also second in the driver (30) and fairway metals (29) categories.

JAPAN TOUR:  The 18-year old champion of The Crowns, who fired a record-setting final round of 12-under 58, relied upon a pair of Vokey Design wedges on the 6,545-yard Nagoya Golf Club course.  Playing on a shorter course by tour standards, the winner dialed in his Vokey Design Spin Milled 52 and 60 degree wedges with precision.  He finished five strokes ahead of Titleist Brand Ambassador Paul Sheehan (Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 909F2 fairway metals, AP2 irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) and Hiroyuki Fujita (Pro V1, 909H hybrid, Vokey Design gap and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter).  According to the Darrell Survey, Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at The Crowns with 49 players, more than double the nearest competitor with 24.  Titleist was also first in hybrids with 21 and sand, lob and approach wedges with 69.
